Tim Bulmer was born in Northumberland in 1958, educated at Sedbergh and later graduated from Wimbledon School of Art, with an honours degree in theatrical design. He was initially employed by a theatre company designing sets and arranging special effects.

A keen observer of human life, Tim's humorous style has developed through an exploration of the basic characteristics and personality of a person rather than a detailed depiction. This has led to a number of commissions for a variety of restaurants, public houses and buildings throughout the UK. Bulmer enjoys this work immensely, creating collections of etchings full of eccentric local characters.

1997 saw the release of his Christmas card collection for Leeds Castle in Kent and a highly successful exhibition of his work at the opening of the new Harrods Picture Gallery. This year he has enjoyed a second Harrods exhibition, an occasion which enables him to converse with his wide ranging audience. Although frequently asked to describe his artistic style, Tim finds his definition a wry observation on life'' a perfect analogy of his work.

Full of variety, Tim's cheeky characters and their humorous predicaments remain an integral part of his work. With his overwhelming rise in popularity and strong international following, the superb reputation of this country' s finest humorous artist can only continue form strength to strength.
